Hi I just got the EVO design 4g and I have the latest update. I've tried several methods as to rooting it but get no luck. I was sucessfully able to unlock my bootloader. But i can't get into the stock recovery to apply the recovery zip or Su zip I downloaded. When I put the recovery image on my SD card it didn't recognize it. Does anyone know how to flash cw recovery or have done it sucessfully? Please someone help me out. Thanks

Thanks for all the views and no replies. I thought this was a forum to help others smh

I have edited the thread post to reflect the need for "help" so the thread gets the proper attention.

Please do realize the Design 4G forums don't get a lot of views from visitors since its not a very popular device so be patient in waiting for a response.

Hm. Did you put the recovery image in the root of the SD? It should also be appropriately named; this means removing all characters outside of what the bootloader recognizes (it should be PH44IMG, exactly - all caps).

I felt your pain. It took me a while to become clear on the steps to take. Information is few, far between, and mostly unclear. I'll list everything in case anyone else needs this.

Obtaining root access after the OTA update:

1. Unlock your bootloader (via htcdev.com).

2. Load CWM recovery (via 2fastroms)

3. Flash a SU CWM zip for root access (via 2fastroms - this thread).

Bam!

There are like 2 roms though lol. There are a few at the aforementioned 2fastroms and a few at SDX Developers). Eh, the ICS roms are ok. I'd stay stock with root access.
