Need help identifing a symbol looks like a watch on my top bar of phone

I let someone use my phone for a few minutes and when I got it back there is a symbol at the top of the phone that looks something like a watch Large rectangle in the center with a watch band coming down on either side. I have looked in the users guide and cannot find that symbol. I would like to identify it and turn it off as I don't know what it does.

Vibrate symbol will only show up if you have muted the volume. So turn the volume up.

Post a screenshot so we can be sure.

Does it look like the one by my 3g symbol? If so that's vibrate. If you have the phone set to vibrate (not ring) it will be present.

I get that on Sprint if my device failed to send a text. When I open up the message app I see it there as well and then I will see it on the individual message that wasn't sent properly. If you're getting it at the top, in the Status Bar, then it's just a general error notification, like a sync error. There's an HTC User Guide in your app drawer that should show this kind of stuff to you if you ever have questions that can't get answered quickly here.
