Need help installing ringtones

I just got my DroidX yesterday. Came from the BlackBerry Storm1. First off Android is a world of difference. I love it. But im stumped on how to get my ringtones from my computer to my phone.

I connected the usb and did the media share from the phone and dropped a folder named" ringtones" on the removeable disk which seemed to work but it only let's me set them for the phone ringer and not sms email etc. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also if there is a way to increase ringer volume past what the rocker gives you as max volume. Even with it all the way up it seems quiet.

create a folder called media and then make sub folders for alarms, audio, notifications, and ringtones. drop the sounds/tones you want in the notification folder and you can set it to sms/email/etc.
