Need help on unrooting Evo 4g

I am trying to unroot my dads evo 4g because when he tries to answer a call the screen is unresponsive.

THESE ARE THE DETAILS
is phone model is 0003
I'm using windows 7 32 bit
the way i rooted it was by unevoked3
didn't put a custom rom on because he just wanted the wireless tether
when i go to use RUU it looks good at first then after it finishes the bootloader part the evo losses connection with the program.

I don't know what i'm doing wrong.

I don't know, hope you didn't do anything wrong. But you should flash different ROMS. That will surely help you with the problem your having. Try Cyanogenmod 7!

The rooting is not what is making the phone do that, especially if you didnt put a custom rom on there.

Any who, I would flash a custom rom if i was in your spot, but if not and youd like to go the RUU route make sure HTC sync is installed nicely and try again. The RUU is finicky sometimes.

Ok the reason i haven't put a rom on his phone is he is not the most tech smart person in the world so i didn't want to change the UI on him.

Myself i love custom roms and right now i have CM 7 on my evo and loving I just can't wait until they get the 4g radio to work on it.

But what i'm going to do tomorrow is just put a rom on and see if that helps. Most likely it will be Fresh evo because i had that before CM 7 and i liked it.

But if that doesn't fix the problem then i will try RUU on fresh and see if that works and then i will post my results when i'm done.

If you used unrevoked3 then you have to use their s-on tool as well.

Id suggest [ROM] - [02/06/2011] - MikFroYo v4.5 - ReEngineered Sense - Still Fast. - xda-developers over fresh. More recent, faster and stable.

I just have to throw my hat in here as well and say you should take a look at EViO, super fast, great battery saving kernel.

Myns Warm 2.2 RLS5 is good. But I don't like the font it comes with.

Not a root problem

The problem that you are describing sounds more like your dad's phone has the 3.70 update on it. I know i had it once and it really slowed my phone down and my dad is also having the same problem that your dad is and I have to trying to get him to just roll back to 3.29 or 3.30 but he keeps saying sprint and htc broke it and they better find a way to fix it. But, if you want to unroot and roll back to stock i can help you with that. Let me know. Good luck!
