Hello fellow Android users,

In my family, I usually get stuck helping them pick out a new phone. I recommended the LG G3 for my wife recently and my father got the Droid Turbo based on what I showed him. Now my mother is wanting/needing a new phone. This one is going to be the hardest for me. My mother currently owns the LG Spectrum and for the most part it works well for her. The battery is showing age and she swears she's having call issues with it. So my question is to those that own this phone, how do you think this phone will do for a woman in her early 60's? She can use her current LG just fine (took a while to get used to it), as she would know the basic UI just fine. How is the battery? How is voice call performance? Any early issues that I should be aware about? Much thanks for reading and helping me out.

My mom is 65 and she likes iPhones and she has the iPhone 4. She is due for a new phone and though I've tried to convince her to go Android, she still prefers Apple (she believes it's "simple" lol) and she'll prolly get the iPhone 6.

Since your mom's age is similar, I think she'll like the iPhone 6. If she needs a bigger screen (and if she's on Verizon) then have her check out these phones: iPhone 6 Plus, Z3v, the LG G2, G3 or G Vista, the Samsung S5, Note 3 or 4, Droid Turbo or the Moto X.

The Z3v is a great phone with an excellent battery and a nice, natural display. While I haven't had any call issues, I'm 47 and have some hearing issues and I do struggle with the Z3v's speaker during calls. With that being said, I'd rate the speaker as average during calls.

FWIW, I had the Moto X before the Z3v and it is louder, especially during calls. She might also like the Moto Suite features (voice commands) but it may also confuse her lol.

And another FWIW... if she can can wait it out, the Z4 line will be rolling out in early Spring!

I agree as well with the iPhone. But I find the Z to be overall better than the G3, turbo and the Note 4 in terms of ease of use, battery, camera, build and other things as I have owned them all. Maybe just take her to Verizon, site her the devices and one she gets to see them she will be able to make a better decision.

Best of luck with the decision and let us know how it goes.

Get her the turbo or the 6. The z3 is a pretty big phone. Might not be something a 65 year old woman would want to use.

Maybe moto x first edition? My mother is 67 and loves it.

Actually, I have the '14 X and she actually likes it. However, I'm a little scared to get it for her as my father isn't liking the Turbo as well as I expected (likes the battery but isn't taking advantage of the Moto Voice/Display like I thought he would). Plus my mother doesn't have the habit of charging her phone every night and the X should be charged every night. So I thought the Z3v would be an upgrade in the battery department as well as build quality/feel and screen (over her old Spectrum). As much as I love the X, it's not for everyone. Thanks for all the input everyone.

Exactly the issue I'm having with my father on the Turbo. It's the reason why I'm little worried her getting the X (and her charging habits). I figured the Z3v is a good compromise and unique enough for her tastes and has the battery life I feel comfortable her having. Thanks for the input.

If you will get her z3v, get a wireless charger with it as opening and closing charge port will drive old people nuts.

Thanks for the reminder on the wireless charging. I forgot the Z3 had that. That might be a big enough reason for her to pick the Z3. Thanks guys!!!

Just to clarify, the Z3v has Qi charging, the Z3 on other carriers and internationally does not. Z3v is a different phone than the Z3.
