Need help rooting phone!

I have the htc hero and have followed the first step in ghbil's how to thread. I try to open sdk setup.exe and I get this....
Error message-Failed to fetch URL https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml, reason: HTTPS SSL error. You might want to force download through HTTP in the settings.

I am running windows vista and I do not see a similiar screen shot like I do on the sdk drivers help page. I think I unzipped the files using winzip.

I had the same problem. There is a check box in settings that allows for the forced download. I have only been in sdk one time so I can't remember the details.

Try it again and once you get that error then start looking in every option, setting and tab you can access until you find something that says force http download.
