Need help unbricking evo

So i bought an evo off of ebay for 100. the catch was that it was bricked.

im new to android so if someone can help me unbrick it i would really appreciate it.

but when i click on the link for ruu zip it doesnt work. so can someone provide me a link for that.

and what is hboot???

You can give it a shot. Just depends if it is a hard brick or not. You could of just spent a $100 on a paper weight.

To see your hboot hold down Volume Down + Power until a white screen pops up.

yeah i got into the hboot.

the guy told me he tried to flash a rom and failed.
im sure this is a common problem in the android community

Does the phone still work? Just because a rom failed to flash doesn't mean it's bricked. To be honest you might not even need the ruu. If you have a custom recovery on the phone then try to just flash a new rom. You will know if you have one when in hboot. Click recovery and if you get a red ! then it's stock. If it says ClockworkMod/Amon_RA then you have a custom. Also does it say S-OFF?

yes it turns on
i hold power and vol up
it says s-on

i click on bootloader then recovery and i get a red ! with the triangle

You have s-on so that means you are not rooted.

That means the only thing you can try is the ruu. Make sure the ruu is the same version that is on your phone. 3.70 is the latest 2.2 and the 4.24 is the 2.3.3

Simple way, pull the battery.

so that means i download this ruu right?

nd the stock rom doesnt load it just boot loops.

when i try to flash it again everything goes through perfectly i can even see the radio change. but then when it tries to boot it just loops

so you think it can be hardware???

i have an evo 4g, tried rooting it with revilutionary it worked for a min? Now im stuck on bootloader. Tried un rooting w/unrevocable, am i bricked or id there a way to fix? Can i put the info on sdcard then load it on phone? my computer or phone wont link. no divice found? I would sure like some help. Thank you all

I am bricked and hung on the "htc EVO 4G" white boot screen. Any help would be deeply appreciated.
