Good afternoon,

I am using straight talk as a service provider. I am looking to get a new phone. I am looking at the S9+ or the Note 9, preferably the Note.

When I am searching for a phone I see many things I am unsure of. Can someone please break this down for me, the more I search the more different responses I see.

Please explain these;

International Version
US Version
Why does international not carry a US warranty
Factory unlocked, no CDMA or vice versa, no GSM

Straight talk can use either CDMA or GSM, but I am unsure what the international and US versions mean. Maybe someone can just link me up with the best deal of something that will work. My brain is starting to hurt after two hours of fruitless searching.... lol thanks!

US version is Snapdragon processor and International is Exynos, I don't think you can get the Snapdragon with unlocked bootloader where many exynos have it as standard/choice in developer options

Thanks for the response. But what does either one of those mean for me? Would I be able to use either one in the States or no?

You would be able to use both in the States but with the unlocked be prepared to give up certain things e.g no warranty, some features like Wifi calling but it would still work fine.

You should probably get the unlocked US version for Straight Talk, since I'm pretty sure they're is no Straight Talk branded version of the Note 9.

Why would you consider the international version for use in the US?
