Need Help!

Inbound calls are displaying "the process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly". I press force close and it disappears.

Outbound calls or text are not affected.

I've uninstalled apps to see if any particular one is causing the issue but after hours I'm still getting the error message.

All this occurred after loading the Hero 2.1 official test release candidate.

Any suggestions??

hmm, i would try reinstalling a ROM,
you can try the RUU, but really, i would fix your bootloader then try another ROM

Thanks for the info. I did load the RUU and I'm getting the message. What do you mean fix the bootloader?

This is so you can flash other ROM's
I'm not really sure why your getting a force close with phone calls.

Would it be possible to wipe the Hero and go back to the stock 1.5? And in doing so, will it cause any issues? As you can tell, I'm a newbie to the Android World (wife's phone).

yes, but you still need to fix the bootloader. The problem with the RUU is that you change everything that would make the phone even updatable from Sprint. I'll help, but really, the hardest part is getting the sdk setup and drivers installed if you're using a PC

mkay, then you're going to follow the guide on setting up the SDK
You need to first install the JDK:
Java SE Downloads - Sun Developer Network (SDN)
Has to be the 32-bit no matter what version of windows you're using
Then install the SDK- for the USB drivers
then do everything from the guides in command prompt.

you need to setup the SDK, then follow that tutorial. Read the link Gbhil provides in the first step.
