I just switched from an older Blackberry a few days ago to a Sensation 4g. So far I really like the phone except for one big problem I have forgotten about since my old Motorola razr. I am one of the lucky people that lives in a t-mobile dead spot. If I go about 3 blocks down the road all I get is a really weak 2g signal.

My old blackberry connected to the T-mobile network with UMA through my wifi. While the Sensation will make calls over my wifi just fine I cannot send or recieve text messages over the wifi. Every time I try to send a text message the icon for the cell radio comes on. Is there a way to force it to send the text messages over the wifi or am I SOL.

I am in the same boat as you but this is the case with any cell carrier here. It's all the levy's around that interfere signla line of sight. I chose T-mobile because of the built in Wifi calling features at no extra costs. I ran into similar issues when i was using a linksys router so I switch to a Belkin Extreme N router. After installing, i put everything to default and put stong passwords and everything work as it should. I would suggest checking the your router settings. Try resetting your router to default the apply your passwords. If you have any of the advanced port forwarding or static routes enabled this could be causing your problems. Try to rule out all together that your connection is not causing your issues. Additional thoughts, Cell phones operate on network ports in the same way that computers do. This in mind you should understand that voice, sms and data all use different network ports. In a PC, data typically uses port 80 and email runs over port 110. It could stand to reason that your router is not allowing the port that your SMS/MMS is running on.
