Ok so I'm torn between the Ipad 2 and Motorola Xoom. Could you guys give me some insight on the Xoom or Ipad (preferably both). I'm looking at them for school and everyday use.

not 100% on all the ipad2 specs but i can give you some info. If you got the xoom now it will be about 70 bucks more than the ipad. You do get more with the xoom. Flash just leaked today and that will never come to a ipad. The xoom has a hdmi output. Yes with a connector from apple you can get hdmi out but at more of a cost. 32 gigs is a ton of storage but if you need more you can get up to 32 more gigs on the xoom and the ipad you cant. I think a ipad comes in 64 gigs but is more than the 800 xoom. The only plus and thing I wish I had that the xoom is missing now is netflix.

I have the Ipad 1, the samsung tab and now the xoom,
my main problems with ipad is you have to always connect it to your computer to get updates for the OS and steve jobs has the apple store so locked down its unreal. Also, you cannot customize the home pages to make it your own, one iapd, looks exactly like another. Also, ipad will never have flash.

the xoom, so far has been very nice, its exceptionally fast, I have flash on it working like a charm, just an overall good system. When an update is available, you dont have to connect it to a computer, its sent to your tablet and then you just click install...

I love android, but I still have a place in my heart for apple products minus the Iphone. I thought the Ipad 2 was a solid device butt i can't get past how awesome the Xoom felt in hand. I might be sold on the Xoom come monday :)

First we need to know a little more about what you are actually going to use it for? Its easy to say the Xoom I own one but it is hard to say without knowing what you intend on using it for and a time frame.

One more thing to consider is find out if your school is using google for there mail server. I know several of the schools are either using gmail now or are asking there students to get gmail accounts.

Yes we are definitely using gmail as out mail server. My primary use is for the kindle app but also as an easy way to take notes while in class rather than carrying my 17 inch laptop around with 4 huge textbooks

I'll use it for other things too like when i go on road trips or watching a video or playing a game.

Well if u are gonna be doing a bunch of reading the higher resolution screen on the xoom should make the text more clear and crisp. One con of the xoom on reading is the awesome google books app doesn't allow to sideload books yet, the ipad ibooks app does allow you to sideload. But if u will use the kindle app then that really doesnt matter as both tablets have that.

As for note taking are you gonna be getting a bluetooth keyboard? bc i imagine that typing notes on a touchscreen will not be easy.

oh yea definitely getting a keyboard with either one of them. I'll use kindle because it has all of my textbooks. I still don't know which one i'll get but right now I'm leaning towards the Xoom because of the functionality although the Ipad 2 is pretty slick.

In college the I pad will make you look cooler and more trendy.

I ve owned two I pad 1s and now a xoom and I am still interested in the ipad2.

Howee I am afrad the same thing is going to happen when I will get pissed off about the notifications and then I will want to side load some files on my I pad and will get frustrared by the fact that I can't do that...then ill get bored with looking at the boring home screen...the. ill want to come back to honeycomb but then remember but I won have netflix and some of the aps that I want....a never ending cycle.....ug why can't one company just pu everything i want

I dont care about looking trendy because all of the people I know think apple and android are awesome. They dont care haha. I really like both tabs but seriously Honeycomb is sooo slick, but at the same time the Ipad 2 iss very well though out but I feel like I'll get bored of the Ipad where as there's always something new to do with android.

The nook does allow you to side load book. If you need that ability. Videos are a hit and miss with the Xoom. But gaming I think is great on the Xoom. Also you can not beat the google integration. And with quick office coming out for the Xoom with the capabilities it has for cloud editing you documents you can not beat that. If you are not sure about what I mean as far as cloud editing. As a former ipad owne I went thru the same debate and landed on the Xoom. My reasons were as much for exploring new technology as I've always had great luck with Moto products, but even more so after my work Evo I miss voice search. I messed with an iPad 2 for about 10 mins in the store and while it felt a bit more responsive the Xoom, IMO, blows it away in the web browser performance. It just feels like the Xoom is a desktop computer to me. That's coming from someone that is using a Win 7 quad core with 12gigs, SSD and Chrome. Call me crazy but the fact I don't see checkerboard pattern all over websites is a great change.

Yes I pad has tons more apps, but for me the webm email and Slingplayer are a huge part of how I use a tablet. The Xoons speaker sounds better and louder and seems to be more responsive to Slingplayer, which is probably due to 1gig of ram vs 512meg, or in my past 256megs of ram.

I don't even know if ill use the cameras, but I can't believe Apple went with what they did. I don't buy into the megapixel BS as I know a quality sensor can have a huge effect. However after testing and viewing video from both in the store its a rather large difference IMO. I am still in the new shiny toy stage but so far I'm eating my words about Honeycomb and the Xoom. I thought it would be much worse than the reality of what I hold in my hands, color me impresed. pretty excite to know I have a free update to LTE when it shows up later this year here.

Pardon the spelling as it late and this is my first long post on the Xoom, some getting used to the different auto correct, still tweaking :-)

I love the "feel" of the iOS but thats where the love stops. Google seems to be making great strides with the look and feel of the android Tablet / Phone OS. I own a xoom and I am very happy with the performance of both the hardware and the OS.

Down the road, when the xoom isn't the lastest and greatest I may attempt to Overclock and squeeze some more performance out of this device (1.5 Ghz dual core!!!!). Can you Overclock the Ipad? With Google Voice and Sipdroid I am able to make and recieve calls / txt messages with my xoom. From what I understand, SIP support isn't the greatest on the Ipad.

IMO the Xoom (& android in general) seems to be more capable. Ipad or Xoom - It all comes down to the type of user you are.
