Ok so I'm torn between the Ipad 2 and Motorola Xoom. Could you guys give me some insight on the Xoom or Ipad (preferably both). I'm looking at them for school and everyday use.

not 100% on all the ipad2 specs but i can give you some info. If you got the xoom now it will be about 70 bucks more than the ipad. You do get more with the xoom. Flash just leaked today and that will never come to a ipad. The xoom has a hdmi output. Yes with a connector from apple you can get hdmi out but at more of a cost. 32 gigs is a ton of storage but if you need more you can get up to 32 more gigs on the xoom and the ipad you cant. I think a ipad comes in 64 gigs but is more than the 800 xoom. The only plus and thing I wish I had that the xoom is missing now is netflix.
I have the Ipad 1, the samsung tab and now the xoom,
my main problems with ipad is you have to always connect it to your computer to get updates for the OS and steve jobs has the apple store so locked down its unreal. Also, you cannot customize the home pages to make it your own, one iapd, looks exactly like another. Also, ipad will never have flash.
the xoom, so far has been very nice, its exceptionally fast, I have flash on it working like a charm, just an overall good system. When an update is available, you dont have to connect it to a computer, its sent to your tablet and then you just click install...
Can you install the update via wifi? sorry noob question

First we need to know a little more about what you are actually going to use it for? Its easy to say the Xoom I own one but it is hard to say without knowing what you intend on using it for and a time frame.
One more thing to consider is find out if your school is using google for there mail server. I know several of the schools are either using gmail now or are asking there students to get gmail accounts.
Well if u are gonna be doing a bunch of reading the higher resolution screen on the xoom should make the text more clear and crisp. One con of the xoom on reading is the awesome google books app doesn't allow to sideload books yet, the ipad ibooks app does allow you to sideload. But if u will use the kindle app then that really doesnt matter as both tablets have that.
As for note taking are you gonna be getting a bluetooth keyboard? bc i imagine that typing notes on a touchscreen will not be easy.
In college the I pad will make you look cooler and more trendy.
I ve owned two I pad 1s and now a xoom and I am still interested in the ipad2.
Howee I am afrad the same thing is going to happen when I will get pissed off about the notifications and then I will want to side load some files on my I pad and will get frustrared by the fact that I can't do that...then ill get bored with looking at the boring home screen...the. ill want to come back to honeycomb but then remember but I won have netflix and some of the aps that I want....a never ending cycle.....ug why can't one company just pu everything i want
