Mom has an iPhone SE. She prefers iOS because it's simple, but she isn't exactly safe with it. Drops and water splashes... I want to switch her over. Her camera don't work for **** anymore and couple other stuff.

I gave her my Moto x pure. It's a huge learning curve but I particularly got it for her because I hate how she texts and drives. She can't do it like I can (am I joking?). Moto actions is an amazing thing I miss on my essential.

However, I worry about the battery life on that phone. I have a spare essential phone and I really want to give her it but I can see it becoming fragile shorter than expected. So, allow me to ask you particularly with the Motorola's. What's the difference between G and X. Should I give her the essential or sell the essential for a new x4 or G6 (G7?).

Help me out here

Also... Just a note. Before anyone goes out and recommends other phones like OnePlus, just remember we have Sprint. Until VoLTE is universal... We have to accept what's out there for now

For the vast majority of people, the G6 is a fantastic option. However, I'd personally prefer the X4 simply due to the little quality of life details that the G6 lacks, and the fact that you'll likely get better update support (not sure how important that is to you or your mom).
However, based on what you've told me, give her the Essential. I honestly don't think you're going to get a better device at that price point, especially with all the updates Essential has released for that phone. It's definitely sturdier than a lot of phones around (including the X4 and G6) and it's definitely a looker too. I'd just give her the Essential and save you some hassle.

Galaxy S7. Great size, great camera, gets updates and is waterproof and has SD card support. You can pick one up for under 250.
