OK, I bought a Fascinate exactly 28 days ago I have 2 days left to decide if I'm keeping it. I like the phone it seems to work fine. I like the interface the phone etc... I even dont mind the bing. My question is oh and I got them to take off 50.00 from the price and give me 1 month free service. My question is should i return and wait for the 4g Thunderbolt? i actually prefer the interface on my phone beter than my brothers Dinc. i just dont want to turn around and regret not getting a 4g phone and have to wait 20 months to change it. What are the advantages to the 4g? faster internet? if that's it then i don't think it's a big deal to me unless it means I'm going to be able to stream Movies from Netflix or ch131. I'm just confused I asked this question on the fascinate forum and the advice I got was to stick with the fascinate if I like it.what do the members of the Tbolt forum think. Oh i forgot to mention that if I upgrade afterwards then I will not be part of New every 2 anymore but rather be under the new policy of no new every 2.:confused:

You're so close! Wait for the 4G! I am. It's killing me because I'm so sick of my BlackBerry. But...it will be worth it!

I would go with the Thunderbolt. Yes 4G just gives you faster download/upload speeds. Make sure your area is covered as its still new and may not even be in your area for a while. Plus like you said you can go with the 1 year contract, so if you like switching phones every year like I do its a big plus.

Yes yes yes.... wait for it.

Return the phone before the 29days expired.

Just one man's opinion, but my recommendation would be to return it and wait for the TBolt. You will also want to check to see if you even have 4G in your area (or will in the near future). If you don't already have 4G and there are no plans to get it in your area, then that makes that feature pretty much null and void for you. Verizon has listed which areas will have 4G by the end of the year.

Sounds to me like you got a great deal on phone you really like.
Agreed. 4g will only give you faster internet at this point, and no world roaming arrangements have been made. Not only that, but you will be looking at probably an additional $10 or $15 a month on top of the regular $30 for the internet, which possibly will be capped at 5gb. Not to mention you already got $50 off on your fascinate, so your looking at another $100 for the 2 year TB, AND a restocking fee too boot. Yikes...

If your aren't jumping up and down in your seat for LTE at this point.. or for the htc sense 2.0 interface.. then you should sit where you are.

If money is no problem at all, GET THE TB!

well if you are in a 4g/lte or soon to be. go for the t-bolt. speeds will be great. samsung seems to sell you a device an doesnt support fixing or updating any software issues. htc an verizon have a good record of software updates.

no shots at vdefender. but no prices have been announced for 4g devices. i spoke to a manager an she said prices wouldnt change an as long as you have unlimited data you will be fine...well looks like verizon just dropped the the cheaper 150mb plan an now only has unlimited or feature phone data plans. also the 4g usb modems are the exact same price as 3g. this is a good sign that pricing wont change.

but who knows. we could get tiered data pricing. we are just waitin for verizon to spill the beans

either way. my opinion is get the t-bolt

I'd return it, wait for a month or month and a half and see what the tbolt is like, or even the new 4G LTE Samsung device is like. If you don't like either of those, you could buy the Fascinate again.

I was hoping that the cost of the data plan would stay at $30 but because of todays leak I am no longer thinking that is the case. The title of the new unlimited 3G data plan says that it is for "Feature phones & 3G smartphones" which hints at the fact that 4G phones will be excluded from that plan and require some other.. higher priced plan :(

would you mind linking these leaks you speak of on here?

Yeah if your happy with the phone keep it... 4G isnt in every market yet and by the time your up for your next upgrade it will be close to all the locations that 3G is.

It all depends on what you want out of your phone.

LTE is delivering much higher speeds, ability to use voice and data at the same time and (because VZW got the prime 700 Mhz band) it will penetrate building and such VERY well.

On the other hand, the Fascinate is a nice device (although I hate the Apple clone UI). But HTC phones are really well built and Sense is also a nice UI.

Hmm. that doesn't look promising. hopefully, it stays at 30 for awhile atleast since most of the country won't yet have 4G. I know I won't have 4G yet, and don't want to be paying extra money for a service i can't yet use.
we'll just have to wait and see I guess

Return it and wait just to be sure...you can always go back to the Fascinate or else you'll be kicking youself in the @ss if you don't.

I just feel like the TB has superior hardware, running on a more current version of the OS. 4G or not, I'd rather have that, than a Fascinate.

Return it, and either go phoneless for a couple weeks, or use an old phone you happen to have lying around.

AT LEAST do a side-by-side comparison in-store before you make your decision. Otherwise, whether you would have ended up picking the Bolt over the Fascinate or not otherwise, you'll be kicking yourself for not waiting.

EDIT: I was told that soon (no exact time table) the return policy was going down to 14 days instead of 30. And the Reshelving fee was getting more than doubled. So whatever you do, make sure you know the details. You SHOULD still have the 30 return policy for your Fasc, but possibly not for what you replace it with.
