Need some clearing up on Verizon S7 BOGO

I have an iPhone 5s right now and I am eligible for an upgrade. With the S7/edge BOGO deal going on at most providers including Verizon I am wondering how this would work. My son has a S4 which is also eligible for upgrade and getting him a new phone for free would be pretty convenient. Looked at Verizon's ad on their website and it's not very clear what makes you eligible for a buy one get one free. Could I upgrade to the s7 edge with monthly financing and get my son upgraded with the free phone or would they make me open a new line for the free phone?

You've got to add a line and that line has to stay active for 6 months. Do the math and see how it works out. 6 months would be $120 and the activation fee would also be there. Reports I've read say that you can just swap the sim cards and use the S7 on the current line.
