I work in a wireless store and have several customers asking me how to clear the search history from the market place i've been searching and trying to figure it our can anyone help me please?

I don't think you can do it on a non rooted phone.
A rooted phone can just use the app cachemate from the market, or dive into the /data/data/ partition and manually delete the entries for the Market.
