maybe tomorrow? I have it off and can take time out of my day catching up with school work to help you out if you'd like. To make things faster, if you have windows:

Download this:
Android SDK
and this (the first jdk download):
JDK for windows

And also:
Download the files in step 2 and 3 from here... this is the method I used.
Root directions

yes i already did but i don't know what to do to upgrade to 2.1.

Choose which rom you want to use download it,put it on the root of sdcard. power off phone, boot into recovery( hold home button, press power) Wipe, data/factory,dalvik,and ext partiton. Then just flash zip from sdcard.

it will not let me wipe factory, dalvik or ext partition, it gives me an error: run 'wipe dalvik' via adb! what does that mean?

I beleive its a fluke, you should be fine. You get those errors when using the old 1.5.2 recovery image. You should be able to flash it anyways.

**** i think i did something wrong my phone just keeps on trying to boot and it goes from the sprint logo to the white htc quietly brilliant screen, i hope i did not break my phone.

Its not broke. I tried wipeing everything again an reinstalling. Ill look around to see exactly what your suppose to do. Its pretty hard to break the hero.

yeah, when you're stuck in that bootloop it is because you didn't wipe your phone. try looking through the pages of that 2.1 leak thread and you will find your answer i believe. i didn't have your problems doing the wipe so i am sorry i can't help there, but it may be worth trying installing a different backup listed in the guide
