Any former BB users that have bought this phone, how is the Keyboard..I live Android, and i love my DX, but I seriously have been waiting for a keyboard like this..How is it? Thanks in advance.

Coming from many years of BB use I must say I was pretty impressed with the Droid Pro and all it's features. The keyboard is slightly cramped but not to the point where it's a show stopper, actually I'm already used to it.

However, being a BB user I'm used to good battery life and the droid pro doesn't even come close. I have been working over the past few days and have shut down 80-90% of applications, wi-fi, gps, etc and now getting 8-9hrs from a full charge. I had posted a thread "battery life" and there have been several good responses. This phone is doing 20 times what the BB did but at the cost of run time.

The camera is 5mp but the photo's are very grainy and of poor quality. There was another post regarding this as well. I guess the verdict is still out if it's the camera or software?

I guess until an extended life battery is offered you need to weight "cool features" vs actual run time. I for one am not the type of guy that constantly carries 2-3 batteries with him.

Like i said really like my DX, but really really missing a physical keyboard..

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE the phone but it cannot compete against BB with this sort of battery life. Like I said earlier I basically have this phone shutdown to squeeze out 8-10hrs, what would happen when I needed to be sync'ed with work all day and needed my email pushed real time, needed to talk on the phone and then actually tried to get some work done using quick office. I would need to carry around a bag full of batteries with me.

i gave up my dx for it... great switch. being a former crackberrier and not really in need of hdmi out and 8mp camera (really a camera is for taking pictures not your phone...), i am very pleased with switch. i can pound out email and texts quickly again, no goofy auto corrections (i was using swiftkey on the dx... not too swift). As far as the other problems people are having with the dpro:

the camera: its software, i used another camera program with the phone camera zoom fx... picture much better, software hasn't been updated yet to enable flash for dpro yet... once again buy a 12mp camera with hd recording for keepsakes... you don't see professoinal photographers at wedding hold dx's... really

battery life: GET THE EXTENDED BATTERY!!!!! any droid smartphone this is a must. with the extended battery, it is very nice and similar to blackberry life. remember we're talking about vastly different front end interfaces, yes a blackberry last for a long time... but show me a blackberry that can do all the apps droid does and i'll show you the blackberry with quick battery drain. its the nature of the beast.

Get a droid 2 - really the droid 2 is nice... i had an original droid... and i used the physical keyboard hardly. having to slide the keyboard out just isn't what you are looking for... you want a droid blackberry... dpro is it

I am coming from a blackberry tour and I support everything you said.

The keyboard is not as good as a blackberry's. If feels "stiffer." Also I sometimes brush the back or home key and its gg. Those keys really need to be hardware keys. Still way better than fumbling around on a virtual keyboard. Also ending calls... I just had a call and had to hit the power button to turn the screen on and then hit the end call button. Again, really needs a hardware key for end call.

The battery life is horrible so im interested in the extended one. We'll see though bc I don't want it to be too bulky.

The chrome/slick finish around the edges and back is crap. It makes the phone have a "slippery" feel to it. My blackberry had matte black all around and a faux carbon fiber on the batter cover that gave it a great feel, they really dropped the ball with this phone in that respect.

I wish verizon had the blackberry torch, it would've been a no-brainer. I also lost my blackberry messenger contacts which really sucks.

On the upside? Well the browser is really impressive (use dolphin) and apps like tapatalk (app im posting from) are awesome for forum use so the internet experience is a lot better.

However im in the medical field and need a drug/disease reference and epocrates was great for the blackberry but they only make the free version for android... not the phone's fault though.

Also my text app doesn't display contact pictures and neither does google talk.

Its a cool phone but I have a lot of complaints coming from a simplistic blackberry, the more apps don't always justify the issues.

I just disagree with one of your statements about getting a camera if you want to take pictures. Its one of the advantages if having an all-in-one device so that you won't need a camera to take pictures. I wouldn't want to carry around multiple devices when I have the capability of carrying just one.

Love it

I'm coming from a BB 9650 with several BB before that over the years.

This phone does everything I need for work (email and calendar). It is my first android and I am in love with all android offers.

Several of the apps I used on the BB are just coming to android (worldmate travel for instance) and don't have premium versions available yet, but have the free version and the developers are telling me the premium coming. With the growth of android I'm sure they will along with a lot of new stuff.

I got the extended battery from Verizon and it gets me through the day.

I am using touchdown to sync to work stuff (my company doesn't have active sync enabled).

I am loving my D-Pro. I got the extended battery and go from 06:30 to 01:00AM and still have battery left. This is a great phone and coming from a BB, it give me a larger screen, keyboard, and a real browser.

Coming from Blackberry, I was a little skeptic. Almost two months later with the Droid Pro, I am officially a Droidhead and no longer a crackberry.
