Need to change my form of payment. Verizon saying I can't?

I was driving in my jeep the other with the roof and doors off and I forgot to stick my debit card in my center console. Of course my debit card flew out of my pocket. I called Verizon to try to give them my new card information and they said they have no way of changing it. The CSR said they might have to end up canceling my order and doing a new one. I told him I did not want to do that since that would change my plan. He went on to tell me to wait to receive an email that my card was declined and then they can change my card info. Does that sound right?

I ordered my 16 GB white on 6/6 at 5 pm and ordered my wife's 16 GB white on 6/10 in the morning. Have not seen any emails. My wife's is on her debit card though so that won't be an issue.
 
that should be correct. When we had a business, that is exactly what would happen in these instances. You will get a notice the card is declined, with a number to call. You call, change the card and they process the order while you are on the phone (in case it declines again)
 
They need to cancel the order. Do not wait for the declined email, unless you love fees. Just make a new order. I worked retail and once an order is payed, the only option is cancel and resend.
 
Actually this same thing happened to me. You will get an email showing that the order will be processed in the next 2-3 days. This means that they tried the bad card, and are probably gonna try again. However if you call them after they try it the first time, they will allow it to change, and charge it right away. Because of this, I didn't get my phone today. But I finally got shipping notification for the ninth.
