have replaced Samsung galaxy S4 with Kyocera Brigadier. Data stored in S- note needed. Is there a procedure to follow

When I tried to transfer data between two different NOTE apps the data was not compatible. I copied each note to the clipboard and pasted it to an email and sent it to myself. Then copied and pasted to the new NOTE app. I only had three notes that had a lot of information so it was a not a long time consuming process!
