Need to Press Mic button twice to Activate Android Auto

I have been using AA for the last year. In the last two months i have had an issue in that when i press the Mic button on my steering wheel the Google banner appears and is ready for a directive than it stops again and whatever was playing continues to play. The banner also remains on the head unit. I then need to press the button again to activate it again. I then give my voice command and it works fine but the voice banner remains on the head unit with the only way of removing it by unplugging the phone and reinserting

Car is a 2017 Hyundai Kona...
AA version on Samsung galaxy s9+ is 3.8.58464-release
