Hello all,

I joined this site in the hopes that someone might be able to help me. I am DESPERATE here. I have a model SCH-R530U version 4.1.2. My dog passed away on March 1st and all of my pictures and a video of him were accidentally deleted from my Galaxy S3 gallery. A friend recommended I use the app called "Undelete". It requires the phone to be rooted. I have absolutely no idea how to root a phone; I hardly know what it even means. I'm hoping to find someone with knowledge in how this can be done. Are there other more simple ways of recovering deleted photos and video from the gallery?? I hope. I've spoken to both Us Cellular and Samsung and they said they could not help me in rooting the phone nor could they tell me how to recover deleted images and video.. I cannot give up and lose all of my precious images and video of my dog. I will be more than crushed. He died tragically and these photos are all I have left of him. Can someone please point me in the direction of how to root the phone and/or a confirmed effective way of recovering images and video from the phone's gallery? I've searched the internet and have seen many people say not to panic and that everything can absolutely be recovered. If ANYONE can help me I would be beyond grateful. Thank you so much. :'(

Kindly,
Corinne

you need to find someone locally to help you. a cellphone store or a computer guy. i would not root or even turn my phone on until you have it looked at. new stuff will overwrite old stuff if its on.

Thank you for the response. <=) I'll look into that. I have no plans of keeping the phone since Us Cellular sold our contracts to Sprint in my area and the phone will not be compatible with any other network.. The phone is of no importance to me in the long run; just the images and video. I have only kept it to recover what was lost from the gallery. I already have a brand new Galaxy S4 as a replacement. Thank you again for the advice.

If you saved your photos or videos to your MicroSD card then I would try putting that card into a USB card reader attached to a PC. Then you could use any number of recovery programs on the PC to see what can be recovered. If everything is on internal SD then friedtators suggestion is a good one. Try to find someone local, that you can trust, to help you work through the required steps. Hope you are successful and sorry for your loss.
