need usb cable help

the stereo in my car has a usb port on it that i used with my ip4s to play music over. but i cannot get it to work with my sg3.

do i need a special usb-micro usb cable to make this work or am i s.o.l. and going to have to use the aux port for music and the usb to charge?

Check your car manual to see what it supports. I've rented cars that support USB drives but the music had to be in a special directory. Also note AFAIK the GS3 doesn't support Mass Storage mode.

my stereo is an sony and it supports sense me. the music has to be put on my device using the sense me program on my comp. not gonna do it.
