I'm receiving a not uncommon amount of nefarious pop-up ads on a particular news website which I regularly use.
These are claiming I've won a "prize" for answering a handful of survey questions, at the end of which it asks for my name and phone number to "verify" my identity to claim it. Of course I naturally entered these to claim my prize (not!), but they are likely to be quite convincing for the uninitiated.
My question is this: can ad/malware infiltrate just ONE specific website as they do not appear on any other website I visit or in any other apps I use. The ads themselves are not full screen if that may be relevant.
The website in question is a well respected UK newspaper, https://www.theguardian.com/uk. My browser of choice is Chrome Beta with pop-ups blocked.
