Negative tag on email icon

On my home screen I have a negative 1 tag ("-1") on my email icon on my home screen. It is synced with my ISP email provider. How can this be fixed?
Sorry. This is on a Samsung Galaxy S III. I am new to forum.

Try going into the Application Manager, in settings, and clear cache for the mail app. If that doesn't work, try deleting the account and re-adding it.
 
Go into Settings>Application manager. Move over to all and scroll down to BadgeProvider. Tap BadgeProvider and Clear cache, Clear Data and Force stop. Not restart the phone.
