PROJECT CURRENTLY ON HOLD! DO NOT USE NEW NETFLIX APP FOR REASONS STATED HERE: http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...issues-netflix-syncing-audio-video-issue.html
Use the above link for now if you choose to use Netflix! Thanks. Enjoy. Will update when Netflix gets their stuff together and makes a better app that doesn't cause more issues than it solves. :)

PLEASE DIRECT PEOPLE TO THIS PAGE/INSTRUCTIONS. PLEASE DON'T DIRECT-LINK THE DOWNLOADS
Anyone flashing needs to see these instructions.

Prerequisites:

Before starting any steps, be sure to remove any previous Netflix app from your phone or this WILL NOT WORK!

NOTE: IF NETFLIX DOESN'T SHOW UP IN THE MARKET, GO INTO "MANAGE APPLICATIONS" AND CLEAR CACHE THEN CLEAR DATA FOR MARKET AND TRY AGAIN!
MUST HAVE XIONIA CUSTOM RECOVERY INSTALLED

UPDATE: INCLUDES ALL ROMS FOR OPTIMUS S!

Instructions:
1
  • Download netflix-signed.zip to root of sdcard.
  • Boot into recovery mode.
  • Select "install zip from sdcard".
  • Select "choose zip from sdcard".
  • Select netflix-signed.zip
  • Reboot phone. Download Netflix.
  • Continue to step #2 directly below.
Step 2:
  • Download revert-signed.zip to root of sdcard.
  • Boot into recovery mode.
  • Select "install zip from sdcard".
  • Select "choose zip from sdcard".
  • Select revert-signed.zip
  • Reboot and enjoy.
EDIT: Removed old, long instructions in order to streamline the process and for the fact that with the new flashable file, extra instructions are no longer needed. :D
EDIT #2: Hulu+ will appear in the market too. DO NOT download the app as it will not work without special editing. Look in my signature for the Hulu plus app that works for our phone!
EDIT #3: If Netflix does not appear in the market: uninstall Netflix, go into settings > manage applications > market and clear data/cache (if you have the new version of the market you must uninstall updates also). Then open market back up and Netflix will appear in the search. :)

Thanks to: jondevere and strra for their discoveries. I want to thank aosp still for sparking my interest in the gingerbread porting scene. ;) pfer10 provided us with the information to the sprint zip files. I hope nobody is offended by this post. If you would like to thank them, please click their name and thank them. I have linked to the appropriate post for you. :D

Special thanks to: drewwalton19216801 for helping get through the scripting!!

What isnt straight forward tho is...

IF you are gonna try AOSP, do you now only need the ROM and Gapps?? Then boot up and replace with the new build? Normally you needed to flash another zip to convert....

Thanks again :)

Good job :) No Offense taken here! ADIDAD - All Day I Dream About Droid

Good to hear. I don't want anyone to think I am trying to "steal" their work. Just trying to contribute to the community.

Hope this helps the process go smoother. Because that's what we are all trying to accomplish, right.....? ;)

Here is the way it was explained to me. I will update the first post to reflect that the phone must be up to this point before using these build.prop files. The issue that my build.prop file addresses are the outdated information in the original sprint.zip files as they haven't been updated to reflect any of the new aospCMod updates...

EDIT: I just reread this post and realized that I've probably restated what both of you already knew. :D
EDIT #2: Old Sprint files are no longer needed!

why cant someone just edit it and port aosp for the optimus s, that rom is perfect, lightweight and fast,...of course with credit to aosp..

I am attempting to convince him at that. Until then, this is what we have. As of right now, we have identical bugs to the Optimus V version as far as I can tell so we are not far off. Cue the build.prop in this thread and you have yourself a Sprint version of the "perfect, lightweight and fast" rom. ;)

Thanks for adding this. I overwrote the .prop file with the one you provided and my phone now shows v. 2.3.4 whereas before it was 2.3.3.

However mod version still shows that I am running the 04/03 AOSP build. Nothing major since I know I flashed 5/17 but just making aware.

Thanks again :)

Keen eyes on you. This issue is true throughout the aospCMod ROM in general. Optimus V users experience this too, I'm guessing because aosp never changed it when doing the releases for whatever reason. However, I have now updated the buildprops.zip to reflect the most current release date of aospCMod 20110516 for all build.prop files. Enjoy! :)

Does this also switch the menu and home buttons?

I've never had that issue. Try this build.prop and tell me your results. We will find out. :)
I looked through the "sprint files" from the flashable zip that is provided to us and I didn't see anything switching the keys... There is a keypad file which assigns which keys wake the phone. By the time this is done I will probably be making a flashable zip for everyone...

You have to make sure that you mount the drive before you copy to it or it wont work. It will appear to work but all old settings will remain. Also before reboot, make sure you set the permissions for the file after you place the file in the folder.

EDIT: Working on a flashable zip now to make process less painful for everyone.
