netflix won't play in HD on this tablet

Was excited about this awesome screen but can't get anything besides Google Play Content to stream in 1080p or above. Netflix streams in SD. Very disappointed. Latest updates installed and I have 50mbps Internet, no issues with anything else.

I thought the Galaxy S was supposed to have HD support for Netflix? It plays in HD on my Nexus 7

Welcome to Android Central! The Netflix support page says:

• Resolution: Android tablets currently support streaming in 480p.
  • Netflix HD playback is available on select KitKat (Android OS 4.4) based devices.

Very vague, but it sounds like it just isn't supported widely yet. I would send their support team an email inquiry: playstore@netflix.com
