NEVER turn on video stabilization on camera settings

but their "software" stabilization is absolute nightmare

it will make your video wobble like crazy no matter what you do

it kills me that a lot of people don't know this and end up trashing s6's video taking capability because of that

once it's turned off the video becomes very very smooth and undoubtedly takes best vid in the market right now

Nice tip... I wonder if this is, in fact, applicable to all models. Of the people I know who got an S6, all have nothing but praise for the phone (battery life aside), especially for the camera. But, granted, they never mention if they turn stabilization on or off.

yeah exactly. the ois is hardware stuff so it doesn't get affected by changing the settings. it will always be there. but so-called "video stabilization" on settings is a software stuff samsung added... which I wish they just didn't cuz it's horrible

Go to Youtube and Carlhen100 videos and look at the last video I uploaded "Don and Carla improv money pot" Is the strange behavior in this video what you are talking about? I've never seen a weird video slanting back and forth like this. I was adjusting the distance of the phone from my face, but certainly wasn't slanting it at a extreme angle like it appears. I tried to post the link, but this is my first post, and it won't let me.

yes that's the wobble i was referring to. i don't know what samsung was thinking with that software stabilization. and it's not going away soon cuz note 4 had the exact same problem but they never fixed it. it only gets worse when you're filming something distant. just turn off video stabilization FOREVER

After checking my phone, I found that stabilization is not turned on. In fact, I don't believe you can turn it on when the video is set to record in 4k. So, I don't know what caused that "fun house" look to the video.

It is the S6's hardware OIS that is causing the problem, not the software. I have seen samples with video stabilization option off and still warps like crazy. This is also an issue on many professional DSLR cameras.

Hi I just got my phone and have noticed i cant view videos on snap chat instagram netflix youtube facebook twitter and even videos of my own. Anyone else have the same problem or advice?

When you upload a video to YouTube, it will often suggest improvements. Sometimes it will ask if you would like to stabilize your video. This may be your issue. Watch the original video in your phone's Gallery, then compare it to your YouTube video. If you access YouTube from a computer, you can probably undo any changes YouTube made to the video.
