Hello guys,

I was trying to transfer data from my Samsung A50 Android to A16 Android.

I recharged both phones and again tried to transfer.

Now, the A16 is asking for a Password, so I used the Password for the A50, but it does not work.

Suspecting that data has been transferred to the A16 at first attempt, I went to ‘Find my Phone’

Both phones show in Find my Phone.

How can Unlock the A16, please?.

Thank you.

Security settings do not transfer, and if there was a password/PIN set up on the new phone, it was done so BEFORE the transfer. Unfortunately there's no way of bypassing this if you don't remember the login info and only a factory reset (which would wipe out all personal and transferred data) would remove that password for a new set up. A caveat, however. If the phone was set up with any anti-theft protection, doing a factory reset will require your Google/Samsung account password (depending on which account was used to set up that protection); again, cannot be bypassed without the proper credentials.

Great. Thank you.
I did not set a Password on the the new phone. So, I am puzzled.

I just logged into my Google Account, and there is a 'Finish setting up your Galaxy A16 device with Google'.

What would your advise at this stage be, please?. Thanks again.

Did you get this phone brand new from a retailer, or was it a used/renewed phone? Or was it "new" but from a less known seller?

Hi,
I bought two, brand new, in sealed boxes, gave one as a gift. Recipient has been using it since then.

Ok, but who was the seller? Not all sellers are honest, and might advertise something as "brand new" when it's in fact used (or worse yet, stolen). It's fairly easy to seal a box to make it look like it's new.

Factory reset seems to be your only option at this stage if you can't log into the phone and don't have the credentials to do so. If you're talking about the password at boot (not to log into the phone, but to boot the OS or to factory reset), then that phone has been set up with Factory Reset Protection (i.e. Stolen Device Protection) to a specific Google/Samsung account, and only those specific credentials would allow the phone to be reset or to continue with log in. As mentioned before, this will wipe out all data from the phone, so you'd have to attempt the data transfer from the old phone again (and pay attention to the set up screens; the back up/transfer process does NOT start until AFTER a local security method is set up, whether this is a password, PIN, biometric, or selecting to have none).
Great. Thank you.

Hello guys,

I tried Factory Reset via Find My Phone, did not work, because it still asks for Password after that procedure.

Now, when I power off to access Recovery Mode the phone still ask for Password.

Phone is still 92% charged, so it will take a very long time to discharge on its own.

Whilst I have transferred data on other phones before, I can only assume that, on this occasion, I did so incorrectly, hence the present issue.

Like we mentioned before, if the phone is asking for an account login for a factory reset, it means it has been associated with either a Google or Samsung account and FRP is active. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with a device transfer as all of this is setup BEFORE you can get to that point. If the account associated with it is not yours, then the device has been registered to another account previously and only that account with those credentials can 'unlock' or remove the FRP. Nothing else we can do here without going into illegal territory and topics not allowed in this forum. At this point your best bet is to contact the seller or return it if it was bought from a more legitimate outlet.
