I know that this question has been asked a million times already but I can't sift through all of the endless posts looking for answers :)

I am currently an out of contract Verizon customer with a Blackberry Bold 9650. I've been a BB user for the past 4 years. Before that I was a Moto Q9C user for 2 years. I am looking to finally upgrade the 3 phones on my plan at the end of January. I was hoping to find a good deal (BOGO) but it doesn't look like that is going to happen with the phones I am considering.

I have never used an iPhone or a Droid before and I am very worried about the transfer. I use my phone for everything. It is constantly in my hand. I google, youtube, stream music, send over 100 texts a day, use BB messenger at least 5 minutes out of every waking hour, use it as my flashlight, journal, and write grocery lists etc. almost daily. I know that most of these things are handled by "apps". My question to you is Will the Rezound be the smartest choice for me? There are some phones i have been keeping an eye on, the Rezound, Razr, iPhone, and the Nexus. I don't want a phone that I will regret buying 6 months down the road. I won't upgrade again for 18 months to 2 years. There isn't a store within 100 miles of me that has ANY of these phones available for me to play with in store. I am really leaning towards the Rezound but that is mostly because I am a sucker for a beautiful display and great sounding music.

So knowing that small amount of information I have given you, would you still choose the Rezound as a best choice?

I looked at some reviews of the Rezound and I think I might like Sense. I have read a lot about rooting and getting rid of bloatware, but I'm not sure that I feel comfortable enough to do these things. I do hate bloatware though. I don't want 100 apps on my phone that i wont use.

I also take a LOT of pictures and video. I want something with fantastic quality.
I just need some help in making a decision :) Thanks in advance for any help

Please take no offense at this, but if you've been a BB guy...why not stick with it? No shame in not being with the "in" crowd. If you truly want to move over to one of the phones you've mentioned then get ready to spend a lot of time at the Verizon store. Anyone that's going to make a legitimate attempt at saying which phone is better for you is selling something. You need to play with the phone, see if it fits in your hand the way you want it to etc...This is a "you" decision, not an "us" decision. We can only give you specs...not what you're going to like or not like.

That being said, spec wise the Galaxy Nexus and Rezound are neck and neck with most saying that the Rezound wins the race. The Rezound arguably has better picture quality and only slightly more shutter lag(the time it takes from pressing the button to the picture being taken). The Galaxy Nexus' main argument is that it will always be on the latest and greatest first....however it's buggy.

So my pick, obviously was the Rezound(As with probably everyone in this forum). For you, my advice still stands...play with the phone and don't let anyone talk you out of what you want.

Haha yes only 100 that I send. Most of the time I am using either BB messenger or Yahoo messenger :) That is actually another question I have. What are the best text or messenger options on a Droid?

First off, Android Central did a piece on Migrating from BB to Android - http://www.androidcentral.com/jumping-blackberry-android-heres-what-you-need-know - It is a little out of date, but it probably covers a lot of the basics.

You do not absolutely have to root. Even with the bloatware, the Rezound is plenty fast. Only nerds really care about that stuff most of the time. Even with the bloat it will be much faster than any Blackberry you have ever used.

If you take a lot of pictures and video, this is as good as it gets. The Rezound has an awesome camera. Image quality is better than the iPhone4s IMO. It has low light modes and a great panorama mode too. This Youtube Rezound-vs-iPhone review shows a direct comparison at time index 8:02.

All the other stuff you listed can be done via various apps, and done well. This is a dual core phone with a very roomy 1 gig of RAM, so it is a champ at multi-tasking. Apps load very fast on it. It has also been noted that it has probably the best radio (meaning the thing that connects it to the cell network)...so not only does it do 4G, but it does 4G better than any other phone right now. In my personal experience, it also has the best GPS I have ever seen on a phone...google maps locks my location immediately when I open it, and I have never seen that before.

That's part of the problem. I don't have any way of playing with these phones. I live in the smallest, town of Oregon. 4 hours to the nearest Verizon store with working phones

Thanks for the link :) I will be reading up on that and will definitely be going back to YouTube for more research

Call Verizon and see if they'd be willing to either:

A) Get some demo phones shipped to your nearest store

or

B) Offer you a discount because they cannot provide you with decent customer service in your area, and you have to drive 4 hours to make a decision about which phone you're likely to purchase.

I agree with MrSmith317, its a personal decision and you gotta play with them to see what you like. However, coming from BB myself, I was very happy I made the switch to Android, and I am ecstatic with my Rezound.

BBM on Android? Nice lol I'll have to read up on that.

I have never gotten Verizon to GIVE me anything lol
I'll have to give it a shot though just to see what happens

I don't think you'd regret buying any one of the four phones you mentioned. I think your 2 best bets are the Rezound and iPhone 4S, based on what you have stated your usage entails. I'd choose the Rezound but it's a tough call if you don't have access to demo. units to play with and get a feel for. Glad I've got the opposite situation, so many stores it's hard to choose which one to visit.

What about putting music on the Rezound? Is it fairly simple? I know about Google Music but I also know that Beats doesn't work with it just yet. So if I import my own music, can I get it to the Beats section? I also make my own ringtones. Can they be easily added to the phone as well? I'm so used to plugging in my BlackBerry and just dragging and dropping things to folders.

Beats audio works through the stock music player, so as long as the music is sync'd to your phone and you use the music player, you will have the option of beats.

I used Windows Media player to sync to the SD card via USB mass storage mode last time... but that was via my Droid X. Since I'm using the same microSD card I didn't have to sync to the Rezound.

Ok that=nks :) You guys have been a GREAT help. I'll still be looking into how to make the Rezound run at optimal performance. Also the pros and cons of rooting. But I'm sure when I finally do get my hands on one, I won't be putting it down anytime soon lol
