I'm reading about "Froyo" and I read this:

"with Froyo, when you download an app to your computer you don't need to tether your phone."

Huh? Never having used Android and coming from the Palm Pre I don't understand this. Are you telling me that with Android 2.1 in order to buy or update an app you have to connect the phone to your PC?

Coming from webOS this seems ridiculous, a step backwards.

Or am I misunderstanding?

Thanks.

You can still download apps directly from the Android Market, but you will also have the ability to pick an app while on your computer and have it downloaded to the phone.

Yes I watched this in the conference video today. You can pick an app or a song from the market place on your PC being signed it and it OTA downloads to your phone. That is the way I took it.

based on the title of this thread ... anyone who is using android ... can u suggest a good password app that is able to import csv file?

Interesting info.

I sooo wish I had this option with itunes and my ipod.

Syncing it is the worst part to me.

I love LastPass. I dont know about importing for sure, but they have a desktop program, and I bet it can do it. Then once it has your passwords they are stored in the cloud, and all of your devices have it. I do think that you have to pay $1 a month to be able to use the mobile version of it though. I do, and ts well worth the money.

I also use LastPass and pay for the premium service so I can use it on my phone.
For web sites it is well worth it and the best thing is it syncs over the cloud so as you add sites all your computers are automatically aware of the new additions.

Now with that said I am unsure how well it will work for a standard password manager. For all my non-web site system passwords, I work in IT so have tons, I need a good stand alone password manager that will also allow me to have a desktop counterpart for importing/exporting etc... I purchased JVault for my Pre and like it. I would love to find something similar for Android. I have to start looking around now.

This is the feature that's pretty well known on Berry's, I used to have a Bold myself and I liked the OTA functionality, untill the trackball went crazy (never a Berry with TB again)

Good question. Bookmarklets are just javascript so I would assume they would work but I am also wondering now.

Can someone confirm this? I am unsure how the webkit browser would behave if you are on one page and select a bookmark from the chooser since it does not just drop down like a PC would.

The good thing is there is an Android version of Lastpass though I am unsure how well it works of course. I pay the premium to use LP on mobile devices, it is just way too useful!!!

HI, new to Android and the ANDROID CENTRAL forums. My wife and I are looking at switching to Android from Palm and she has jVault. Can she export from jVault and open that file with Lastpass?

I also had a Palm Pre and purchased jVault. I liked that program. I use LastPass for web passwords and it does have the ability to import .csv files (as well as formats from a lot of other programs but jVault is not listed) so if jVault can export to those (I cannot remember) it should work.

While I like Lastpass for web related passwords I still need, and am still looking for, a nice program to store my non web related stand alone passwords. Passwords from my users/servers etc.. I need one that can import/export from .csv files and is secure and easy to use. if anyone has any good recommendations let me know. i:)i
