I note you said "thanks" but there is no mention of "to whom"...
Most forums, and this is one of them have a "THANKS" button. That is the appropriate way to give thanks to someone if a post you are reading helps you. It is a measure of whether the time the poster takes to write that post is worthwhile.
also, if you really LIKE a post, click on that button also. I frequently click on both buttons, especially when I find a tid bit that really helps me, or I see a poster who really gave someone some good advice. On the latter type posts, I click the LIKE button because I like the way that poster went out of his/her way to provide accurate and helpful information.
