Esential released an update to the camera app today. It looks like most of the improvements are in HDR, including a new AutoHDR mode, as well as some stability fixes.

For those of you who have a chance to play with the camera, what is your experience with the updated app?

Not sure what the Auto HDR does... I haven't gotten it to kick in even though i have it set to Auto. The biggest change I've noticed is the speed of taking a picture, and multiple pictures. Seems pretty significant and I'm very happy

It is supposedly going to switch to HDR when condtions are right. I've noticed it will switch back and forth even as a slight position change is made. I'm assuming this is due to the shot being right on the edge of good or not.

1. How do you disable multiple-pics? I *HATE* it -- In cold weather or awkward stance I get my finger on the button for a second and next thing I know I've got 20 pics of something I only wanted one. "DISABLE MULTISHOT" definitely needed.
2. What if you want the pic(s) you are about to take to not be full HD, e.g. 1024x768 (or smaller) -- I could do that with my other phones but not this one? Or am I missing that somewhere?
I like the phone but hating the camera.

Use one of the other camera apps if you want more features.

I honestly didn't know there was that ability. Just checked mine and see that it does take a burst of pictures if I keep my finger on the shutter button. It also works fine for me to just take one shot in the traditional single press. I have know idea how it can be shut off since there isn't anything in the settings.

This is the default behaviour is almost all camera apps and it helps to take those sports shots or shots that involve motion.

Camera still freezes the phone completely and requires a 10sec pwr button hold to reset. Was out to dinner last night and tried to snap a picture and boom, froze. Very very frustrating.

That's fine, thx. I was just responding to messypotamia. That particular function is particularly important to me and isn't giving me any problem as it seems to be for him.

So I guess congratulations are in order to messypotamia for discovering the new 'rapid fire' camera feature. Lol. Thanks!
