New Captivate not sending/receiving Text messages

Hi everyone, I'm new. Sorry my first post is a problem instead of a proper introduction.

I seem to be another one of those people who aren't sending or receiving SMS messages. It's on a new Samsung Captivate. I had ATK, mylookout and antivirus on there but I removed them all. Before removing Antivirus there was a status message on the widget that says it's scanning incoming SMS message. I removed ATK and antivirus apps then removed the battery and rebooted. Still nothing coming in or going out. Is this being addressed by ATT or Samsung? I can't believe a basic feature like SMS isn't working on this phone. Are there any workarounds?

It's usually a case by case issue. When you try to send out do you get an error message or have any other info to go off of? If not you may need to call AT&T.

Went to the at&t store and found they turned off my texts.

hey i have the same problem. how do you turn texts on and off? could this problem be related to the handcent sms app i downloaded?
