new case causing even more heat during wireless charging

Previously I had some bulky cases on my S8 with little issue when it came to wireless charging. They just had the usual TPU/hard plastic mixture in the frame. Recently I switched to samsung's S view which is a much lighter protection, but there is a small magnet placed in the case to assist with the folding stand position. Now, even though the phone says high speed wireless charging is used, wireless charges have been slower and the phone stays very warm consistently, even well after reaching %100 charge.

Anyone else finding cases with metal or magnets embedded in them with simular wireless charge results? I'm liking the S view case but exposing the phone to this heat for hours every single day overnight is not healthy.

I had 2 cheap wireless chargers, both made phone very warm, grabbed am official Samsung charger with the fan built in makes a h ige difference, phone is not getting warm, house otterbox case

I use ringke cases, no problems here ??????

Did the ringke use any metal on the back?

So after sticking my s view on the wireless charger last night (upright with a lip, you can't put it on "wrong") and after 8 hours it was very warm and just %81 charged, I was like F- that. Grabbed a small flat head and pried the magnets as well as the metal sticker parallel to it out of the case. the tri-fold stand design may not secure itself any more but at least it works like it is supposed to now. Designers definitely bullshiated their way through the wireless certification for this one. So far it seems back to normal.

No metal just the usual rubber protective case, works fine with my wireless charger. I have three Ringke cases, all OK! ??????

Then you are Mis understanding what the thread is about.

You didn't specify which charger you were using. Are you using one of Samsung's wireless chargers, or a third party?

...so what makes Samsungs chargers different if you consider the fact the charger has zero issues with the s8 in no cases and heavy duty cases?

The Samsung wireless chargers are optimized to work with Samsung phones and accessories. Non-Samsung wireless chargers are designed to be used for ANY Qi enabled device, and not necessarily tested for Samsung specific ones and accessories.

Gern, thank you for your useless regurgitation of information. To bad it explains nothing when measured against the facts at hand. The chargers 2 coil design ensures it doesn't miss, oh and qi 2.0 is a standard, not a samsung thing.

So I'm actually going to step back on my assumption that the magnets were the problem and instead I think the 2 layers of material, the flexible folding outside and the hard frame that holds the phone created to much of a gap. I switched it one of spigens ultra thin cases and no issues.

So going forward, wallet type cases may have issues with actual charging that YouTube reviewers never pickup be cause it doesn't stop the phone from displaying that fast charge was enabled when first placed on the pad.
