Thanks to mgr666 we now have an excellent kernel with sio added in, all the credit goes to him :)

Older post that started the thread:
"I'm on a different device, the LG myTouch 4G, which has nightly builds of CM7 and CM9, but neither of the kernels have sio as a scheduler. My laptop charger just got busted so I can't really do anything on my own if a PC is required, I hope this isn't asking for too big of a favor but if it's no trouble at all could someone please help me out with getting a flashable kernel with sio as a scheduler? Preferably CM7 as I'm not a big fan of the ICS builds for my device. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I come to ask for help here because the OV community is by far my favorite and has always been awesome at helping me find solutions in the past. Thanks in advance!"

Where is the kernel source of the current kernel? This can't be done without the source. Do you have the flashable zip of a current kernel? Post these info, I will do it for you.

Thanks I just wanted to make sure that CM's e739 configuration in the repo is the same with what you have. It is indeed the same.

As I had done with the vm670 kernel, I will remove cfq, bfq io schedulers, add sio scheduler, and leave noop and deadline schedulers in place. I will try to be done by tomorrow.

The e739 kernel with sio scheduler added as default is below. The flashable zip file is based on Koush's Any Kernel updater. But I have no way of testing this. So be ready to recover if you cannot boot or boot partition gets corrupted.

e739_kernel_MiRaGe_07142012.zip

Warning: This is not a VM670 kernel. Don't try on Optimus V, S, etc.

It boots but nothing was changed, it still has cfq and bfq, doesn't have sio.

Then, it didn't flash. Did the recovery say it was flashed successfully? Can you please post the file /proc/version?

I have changed the update-binary with the one from CM7 nightly for e739.You can download the modified flashable zip below.

If the kernel updates doesn't work again, I will modifiy the boot.img and directly place the new kernel in it.

It did say it flashed in recovery, but sio never showed up and cfq/bfq were still there.

Installation aborted this time. I believe modifying and placing the kernel in the boot.img should work, just like with the outdated victor kernel. That one flashed correctly, inside the zip was a boot.img file rather than the kernel folder.

The file was empty. Can you just copy and paste the contents of this text file to your post?

It is apparently not flashed since there is no way you can see bgq and cfq in the new kernel. They are removed. Are you using the No-frills CPU control? If you can test the updated flashable zip I have uploaded above, we can move on with this.
