New Contacts not storing names

Ever since 11 came out, whenever I get a text or call from someone that I want to save, it doesnt store their name when I save as new contact.

I go through the motions of adding first and last name and whatever other fields I need and then hit save. When I go back to my messages list, their number still shows instead of their saved name. I literally have to reboot my phone or clear the app for it to take effect. I used to be able to watch a number change to a name within seconds of saving it as a new contact.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I can try that. It's just weird. All of a sudden since I ordered the pixel 5, my phone has been acting up. Like it thinks I'm cheating on it.

But if you go to the Contacts app and look up that contact, is the name listed there correctly?

I noticed even before Android 11 that the name in the message thread wouldn't always change immediately after saving the contact. It might just need a few minutes to resync.
