Oh God, not this again.

I am taking bets. How much ya bet this will be a thousand pages by midnight? Any takers?

there are no fixes. It's basically to block the current sbf method. Basically they're trying to stop us from rooting.

Can you confirm this?

Or is this just suspicion and assumption?

From Camel of DroidMod:

Another OTA update has appeared, and this time it’s packing a punch. Upon initial inspection, it appears that they’ve closed the sbf root method by including a new version of mbm, presumably using a different key to sign sbf files. No one has actually verified this yet, but we don’t see any other reason for why an mbm update would be included, and we’ve had suspicions for a while now.

So that'd be a No.

Considering I see no proof of the update happening, I will certainly not believe its just to block root, let alone even happening.

droid mod has the update for download on their website....its huge to say the least at a scale tippin 69MB

If that is indeed the "real" "update" then its FARRR more than just a "root killer"

this is quoted straight from droid-life.com

"It should also be noted that this 2.1 update is 69MB while the originaly update sent a month ago was only about 15MB. This definitely looks like an entire system image rather than a simple patch."

edit** i downloaded the update but did not install yet because i wanna make sure this is legit before anything....only seen about less than 5 people who say they got the notification to update....so we shall see

I ran the update but it's still showing Build Number as ESE81, Kernel Version is 2.6.29-omap1-g7fa8788android-build@apa26 #1

Since there is such a huge difference in file size, has anyone entertained the idea that this is probably just a full system image of the 2.1 update?
