New Evo! Help

I just got my Evo today, upgraded from a samsung moment (thank god lol) and I have no idea what to do first! Root, how to customize it? what new apps to download? i just barely finished the activation and its currently charging...but help would be appreciated

I had downloaded a ROM from SDX but i had really gave up customizing the phone since it constantly rebooted, wouldnt read my SD card and plenty of other issues....i wanna start fresh with my EVO

On step 12 I recommend using simple root.

That will let you flash ROM's. You can look at the AC ROM here:

That's a good solid ROM. Almost exactly like stock with some tweaks. I run it and it's great. You can also browse around here for other ROM's or check out THIS PAGE.

Also, i keep hearing about the 30 fps thing, does changing it really affect performance? or is it all just talk...

Rooted makes it smoother get rid of the fps cap and overclock it. Get roam control so you can put your phone in roam at 3g permanent also rom manager quick boot overclock widget . I run stock rom with netarchy toastmod 4.1.9.1 getting 1.26 ghz and something over 1500 benchmark from quadrant. Or install burnt droid rom pretty much same thing just without the bloatware from sprint and cool boot animation. Or use the baked snack kernel fps and overclock as well. Saves battery
Get swype on your evo also shoot me and cache

My advice to you is use your EVO as is for a couple of weeks just to get to know how things are supposed to work. Then go crazy customizing.
