New Fascinate owner South of Atlanta

I have gotten a Fascinate because my Motorola Droid 1 was washed in the washing machine :-( I like it so far because it is very fast compared to my old phone. Do get me wrong, there a few issues that bug the crap out of me.

1. The signal level never seems to get better than -93dBm no matter where I go.
2. When the battery gets low and I try to use the camera, I get a low battery warning preventing me from using the camera.
3. I do not have the ability to keep the screen on. The option under Settings>Applications>Development is not there.

So with those problems, I thought I would come here and learn some things. Perhaps even give rooting a try.

Welcome to AC. Two out of the three problems you mentioned seemed normal with these type of smartphones. However, the issue about keeping the screen-brightness on all the time.. I'm not sure of. On my EVO there is an option to " screen turn off" available under settings - display - screen time-out.(Q) Out of curiosity •> Why would you want to have the screen on all the time?
