New Fascinate owner

Just wanted to say hello to the fellow fascinate users out there since I now own one. Verizon was kind enough to offer me an early rebate and1 year contract deal so I decided to trade my slow BB Storm 2 for this phone. What's kind of funny is the store salesman tried real hard to get me into the Droid X...but my wife owns that phone and nothing against the users of this phone, but the screen compared to the Fascinate just didn't sell me. I like my crystal clear screen. Anyways, I'm still learning the phone and trying to figure out all the stuff on it (like what are the two mini window things besides the "Verizon" logo on front-top of phone) and (why does my phone always have low 3G bars compared to my wife's X in the same places), but overall I like it! Swype over surepress really is a killer improvement! And the speed of the phone is insanely fast! Now...lets hope one day we get 2.2!

i believe those are the prox senors. some kind of bug shows the bars lower than they actually are,, did you do the OTA update yet
Settings>about phone>system updates
you think its fast now wait till you start to throw roms on it

Well, I did get an update as I was walking out of the Verizon store, some patch I guess.

As for ROM's and such, I'm not familiar at all with that process. I know Droid software allows customizing the system, but thats not something I know anything about. From the BB Point-of-view, I consider customizing like a theme install LOL. But android is a tad different. Again, I got alot to learn and how to make this phone perform as people say it should.

I'm going to sleep soon but we will help you out getting you to where you want it..you can check out the fascinates roms&hacks section. Look at my thread,how I learned to flash a rom to get a feel for it. But we are working on new methods and ill be making tutorials to help.

Welcome! I'm sure you are going to love the new phone. As been said, look into some roms and somethings you can do with a rooted phone. You will be stoked! The too circles next to the VZW logo are prox sensors for when you put your face to the phone etc etc.

You may also want to look at the "post pics of your screen" section. I have gotten a lot of great looks from there via the guys on here.

Welcome to the world of android. Like u I came from blackberry and am not quite comfortable with rooting and flashing roms quite yet. I would look into launcher pro. It's a great app that allows a lot of customization (not as much as a bb theme, but it offers a lot of customization).
