New Firmware Pushed This Morning

Update negatively affected thumderbolt

so i updated my firmware and gps actually got worse. I never had issues with gps and now it is telling me i am in lambeth. No clue where lambeth is but sure looks like my apartment in NYC. Also since the update i cant get any 4g, 3g or 1x. I have nothing! Restarted phone with no change. I am not rooted or anything as this is my first smartphone, stepping up from lg dare. Dont know what to do. Any suggestions?

Edit: to write this post i had to go through my wifi so it showed i was back in NYC but the time was still for lambeth. I turned wifi off and went back from nyc to lambeth. Will try battery pull now.

I dunno if it gonna make any difference but try a battery pull.

My GPS is worse, I think. Additionally, while I NEVER had 3G connectivity issues (I don't have 4G here) before, my 3G connection now frequently craps out on me. GREAT.....it's also nice to be running what is supposedly the flagship Android device on Verizon and NOT be running Gingerbread and NOT have the Netflix app!!!!

Oh, and I'm also getting the random shut-down issue, which I never had before.

well after a half a day. i have found NO change or difference in my phone after the update, gps still wont lock on and battery is still the same. dont do video, so cant say about the audio,

camcorder audio=now great
GPS=surprisingly worse than it already was prior to the update.

oy. they held this OTA back to get things working, right?...looks like someone didn't click the right RUU to be sent out again :)

I am shocked to see so many loading this update so quickly. I think I'm gonna wait until the front cam works in Skype and for any noticeable battery usage improvements.

good luck to everyone who jumped feet first... I'll be hovering in the background.

The type of people who were early adopters of 4G technology with the ThunderBolt are the same type of people who are early adopters of patches/fixes. Not really surprising.

Alright so, I know it's early yet. The firmware has only been out for less than a day but--

* GPS Lock - very fast ~ 10 seconds or less
* GPS accuracy - spot on
* Audio on videos - much better - I call it a fix.
* Bettery life - need more info but seems much better.

That is what I am seeing currently.

Plus, I haven't had any major issues with my phone so far, so I figured I would just do it. Still alright so far. No reboots, shut downs, or anything else for that matter. Still as stable as can be so far. Of course I think I may be spoiled with the fact that St. Louis' LTE network seems to be rock solid (save the nationwide outage).

did anyone have to backup their device before doing the update?

and if you did, how do you backup the tbolt to the pc via usb (like i used to do with storm1)?

could be that backup is more needed when say going from froyo to gingerbread and not for OTA updates? curious to know, my first android device.

everything is still running awesome!

this is the first time the weather widget has ever had my correct location at work.

now all i need is the otterbox case and i am set!

My gps is finally showing me in the front of my house. Before it would show me within the 2700 meter circle. Battery seems better, though its hard to tell after 1/2 a day. 3G seems a little more locked in, and video has sound. I guess it worked for me!

I updated "successfully" yesterday afternoon. Now I am having issues with streaming to my bluetooth-enabled car stereo. As soon as I open Pandora, Radio.com, or even play an MP3 my Tbolt will say Bluetooth Headset (Headphones?) Disconnected. If I try to turn Bluetooth off and then back off it will lock my Tbolt. I will then get a Force Close message for HTC Sense or I am forced to shut down/reboot. I have also had random restarts.

I never had these issues prior to the update.:mad:

I did find that if I cleared the data in settings, the gps fix was under five seconds.

I still havent received the ota update from verizon. is there anywhere that can explain how to do this manually. Thanks

on homescreen view, click menu at bottom then select settings.
then hit 'software update'
then 'check new'

I had to set my Tbolt to CDMA Only (LTE OnOff) to get to 1X and then it found the update. Slow but it worked.
