New G4 owner, is my unit defective?

AT&T, stock everything no rooting/flashing.

1. When I charge the phone at night, the red led flashes red on and off, all night, and when charged it switches to green. Maybe im used to a solid charging light, but is it supposed to flash? also, alot of times when I unplug and lock the phone is keeps flashing a red light until i reboot the phone.

2. the screen brightness was set to 65, and everytime every unlocking, after about 4 seconds it auto-dims by itself. now at 55 and it doesn't. is that normal?

It it normal for the red light to flash red while charging and solid green when charged. You can use a free app called light flow to turn it on/off as well as have greater control over the led light. Paid version has more function as well.

As for the screen dimming, is auto brightness turned on?

it flashes when charging and when charged. lightflow doesn't do anything to it. auto brightness is off.

so i probably have some defective unit, only explanation.

My red led during charging doesn't flash, per se, but it does do a slow pulse... definitely not a flash like a notification. And I've never seen it keep flashing after I unplug it. I'd say you either have something wrong with your charger or there's a phone issue.

Sounds normal to me, in that the stock auto-brightness is pretty bad, so it's behaving its normal bad self Try Lux http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/543334-just-purchased-lux-help-screen-brightness.html

Exchanging sounds like the right plan.

Bulk manufacturing is always going to have its share of issues. Sometimes just bad luck if you get a defective unit.

Before you try to exchange it, I'd try a factory reset. They're going to make you do anyway before they agree to send another unit out.

Probably has something to do with the charger plug you're using. Are you using the OEM one from LG?

AT&T here, mine does not flash, a very light pulse only. and Phone doesn't dim auto unless I have it sat at that. Also, I haven't checked but if you have battery saving checked it might also auto dim.

Mine (AT&T) is a light pulsating red when charging. BUT, that's on wireless charging, might be different plugged in.

My International One flashes but very slowly. It slowly goes from very dim to bright red and back when charging.
