OK, I'm running my NC on software version 1.1.0 and I wanna root it or use honeycomb or something. I definite want:

To still be able to have most of the features of my NC
Use android apps, games and emulators for old snes and ps1 if possible

Namely,
Do I want to use nookie froyo or honeycomb?
What kind of microSD card do I wanna buy?

Thanks for the help!

OK, until you said Flash I would have suggested sticking with the Stock rooted. It is basically bug free (at least for me over 2 weeks) and can do, I think, all of those things (I haven't actually tried an emulator yet). But it is Eclair 2.1 and cannot do Flash, BUT if you are wanting to just watch Flash videos (i.e. not flash games) you can use Skyfire browser and have full Flash video access. I haven't tried to play any flash games in Skyfire, but I don't believe it is possible (someone else can either confirm or correct that maybe).
With FroYo or HC you will loose the basic current NC book/magazine style reading. I am fairly certain that the Market available nook app works in both right now so you can look at the form of that on an android phone and see if you like it as well (I really kind of like the NC version of the reader better). You'll loose that functionality with any replacement beyond Stock Root I think though. Some of the other e-reader stuff would be lost.

You want flash so I imagine that FroYo would be the most stable between froyo and HC right now so I would use one of those, but remember you can always test drive it off of like a Class 6 SD card first

Just keep it stock and flash it. I know others here like flashing ROMS etc.. and that is by no means wrong to do. It can however be a pain at times and much harder to set up and get working as bug free as the stock is.

Now mind you I just got mine last Friday and am only going by all the threads I have read etc... I am by no means an expert. Others here are and I would listen to them.

My point is I am using it just rooted and so far it is about perfect. I have all the BaN libraries still available to me and the market etc...

There are still a few small issues for me like the wireless keeps timing out even with a keep alive widget in place. I also want some type of widget that I can just tap to wake it up..

I also have a weird issue where some menu items have white text instead of black so I cant hardly read it or I see no text at all. I am still looking for some utility that I can change the interface colors but I think that would require more hacking.

So far that is about the only issues I now have left to work out. Not bad for a $250 device...

Yep! That will be what you need if you can live without Flash (Froyo), I've tried the other ways of running off cards, flashing to internal memory, this one is the best as far as I'm concerned!

Have fun :)

I agree with Paladin. In the beginning, just enjoy the stability of Rooted Stock. See if you can live w/o Flash for a while. You will get it eventually on the NC when the ROMS are more stable or B/N decides to update stock to Froyo.

Yep, that is what I did and I am VERY pleased. You won't have regular flash without using something like Skyfire browser but I think for stability and functionality that is what you want. Then there is another thread about apps and workarounds I thought it was a sticky but it looks like it isn't so you may have to search for it.

I agree with the root option. I got the Nook Color, because I wanted a cheap tablet, that could do everything my Nexus One does, and I'm really happy with the results. I don't need flash, because I don't use it on my phone, and I like the stability of the stock ROM, although sometimes I get some apps to make my nook restart.

I think I will switch to Honeycomb, when it gets a stable release, but Ill stick with Eclair right now, because Nookie Froyo its still under development. Ive seen the option of running Cyanogenmod, but I'm not sure if I want that right now.

I can confirm that using the skyfire browser works for watching flash video on websites. Im currently stock rooted and this set up works for me.
