New guy with G2X Questions

Hello. Well, I've been on the forums a lot and Ive seen that a lot of folks like this phone and a lot hate it. I've had it for 2 1/2 days and have already had issues with this thing randomly powering off in the middle of the night, and freezing up. I want to like this phone, I really do. Does anyone have any idea of what I can do to stabilize it? I dont want to root it, but if I have to I will. Thanks guys.
