Hi everyone, I'm considering coming over to the Nexus team... but I'm a little weary. First off let me say I came from a Sammy Fascinate (the bastard child of the OG Galaxy S line:'() to a Dinc2... my pride and joy:D... I love my Dinc2 but I miss my (S)AMOLED.... so What I want to know is should I go for the Nexus or wait for the SGS3? What issues should I be aware of for the Nexus? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

What's more important to you, hardware or software? There's no denying that the GSIII will have better hardware. But'll I'll take the stock software of the Gnex over TouchWiz any day of the week. And besides, Verizon never even received the GSII, and it took them a long time to get the Fascinate. There's really no guarantee that Verizon will even get the GSIII in the first place.

If you decide to go with the Galaxy Nexus, it will be running on 4.0.4 straight from the shell...hopefuly. You won't get the issues many folks had with stock 4.0.2. (ex. weak radios, random reboots, slow screem rotation, just to name a few). Most of those issues were fixed by the new update IMO.

If you're interested in root/roms etc, galaxy nexus is a beast in that dept.
If you can wait it out and want more cutting ede hardware, the s3, if it comes to verizon, will probably make a nice phone, albeit with touchwiz as mentioned above. (but, the galaxy nexus is no slouch hardware-wise, but it does not have a great camera and the specs are topped by the newer offerings of htc and samsung).

Possible issue with the nexus is that you MAY get a unit with data connectivity, sporadic mic, screeching call and various other anomolies. It seems the nexus is plagued with quality control issues.

I have been blessed with a phone that has been flawless. No problems whatsoever. On my first one since launch day. Six months of exemplary performance. Others have been through 3 or more devices and still continue to have problems.

If you get a good unit, it is undoubtedly the best phone on vz six months old. Hackablitly is bar none the best. GL :D

Thanks for the help everyone... I'm still torn... Coming from a previous Sammy owner... I know they have bugs... And quite honestly I don't wanna deal with bugs... My Dinc2 had no bugs... And I don't like getting warranty phones over and over again -_-

People forget when reading these types of forums... the people with no problems, do not come in to post and complain. The bugs on the Gnex, like the bugs on the SGS 1 are wildly over-hyped. Not just for these phones, but for ALL things electronic+internet, reduce visually noted posts to 10% actual value and you might be closer to reality. It is probably even less than that.

The Nexus in particular seems to attract the "hatahs". All devices have a percentage of defects. The mistake is in believing that one guys' bad device/luck means more than it does.

Not just here, but everywhere, we have to be mindful of squeaky wheels and value their negative input accordingly.

Just my $.02, YMMV

I can understand that... I think I'll just take the plunge.... It's a great phone after all and if all else fails... I'll make Verizon give me a free new phone like last time hahaha :-)
