New Haven, CT has Unannounced 4G?

Sprint maps still show no coverage in any part of Connecticut and none are even on the notification list for the future.

Sensorly is showing that New Haven, East Rock, and parts of Fair Haven are at least getting 4G test signals from some towers.

Very interesting. I live in the New Haven area (North Branford), and we have no coverage here yet, and I have a Sprint tower pretty close to me. I was told by a Sprint representative the day before the EVO came out, "she was at Best Buy getting them ready for the EVO release: she is responsible for Connecticut's Best Buys and Radio Shacks for Sprint," that Connecticut wouldn't get 4G until December 2010 at the earliest. She said they were given a schedule and Connecticut is on the chart, but for late 2010 or if delayed, early 2011. I wonder if they are just putting it up and doing sample testing?

I was at the West Farms mall and one of the Sprint Reps said that we should be getting 4G in some parts of CT at the end of Oct 2010. At the Sprint store in Waterbury a rep said probably not until next year. So I have no idea who to believe, I have heard of some people close to NY, particularly stamford area have been getting some 4G signals although most report its just the signal, it does not actually work. CT is not on the sprint official calender for this year, but that is not saying much. Cant wait for 4G in CT

I was in New Haven today, near College Street, at the doctors. I tried the EVO on 4G there to see if it is really working. Sure enough I got a 4G signal. Not a great signal, but it did say it was FAIR. I have to believe that they are testing it in the area right now and it not ready for primetime yet. Hopefully it will expand soon.

I got it today in Hamden... download at 15 Meg/sec. Thats almost as fast as my Cable! I was near Southern CT state Coll.
