I am brand new here and coming from crackberry.
I currently have a Blackberry Curve and it's time to upgrade!
I was tempted by the new iphone but would prefer to stay with Sprint.
Once I learned about the Evo I was thrilled! I pretty much decided on that (but don't have one yet bc they are sold out).
In the process of lurking around to get more info on the Evo I found out about the coming soon Epic.
UGH...way to confuse me!
Now I don't know what to get

I have to admit, that coming from a Blackberry I am attached to my physical keyboard. In that respect, the Epic is tempting. On the other hand, I assume once I use the touchscreen for awhile I will get used to it.

I am not super tech-y..but very picky and want the best phone. Quality and durability are EXTREMELY important to me
I will be using it for browsing, messaging, pics & videos (of my kids ;)) and maybe some low key time wasting games. Oh, and of course as a phone :p

The more I read, the more confused I am on which one to go for.

Would love some opinions!!

Two great devices under the Sprint Network both with 4G where applicable. Minus some small differences for example; screen size, camera MP's, and processor; I dont think there is a clear winner. At the end it comes down to either physical keyboard vs. touchscreen. Myself being someone who came for the Blackberry world; I personally do not miss my physical keyboard on the BB and find the EVO a great phone to text on, send emails etc, due to the size of the screen and layout of the virtual keyboad.

If the HummingBird processor and GPU it has does what it claims, I will go Epic. I may even get one. But.... Until real world testing is done I would say it is a draw unless you want a physical keyboard. My wife has a Moment now, the AOLED screen (if I said that right) does look great. So having a 4" one of those would be awesome. Then again, the Evo just kicks ass right now. In the real world. So until I get my hands on an Epic and see real testing done. It is a draw. Now, iPhone fanboys compairing iPhone 4's to any phone, they will say the iPhone is better. So I don't count those reviews.

Epic may not come til end of year so if you want a phone now, EVO. Epic should be better for gaming/graphics but who knows how Froyo will improve EVO. I personally wanted the big screen and is the primary reason I switched from Pre. Go check one out at a store and compare to Android phones with Epic-sized screen. The screen size gives a significant difference in experience methinks.
