I am just now moving to a new HTC 10 model 2PS6500 with Android 7.0.

I have been a HTC user since ONE S then onto M7, M8, M9. Was really disappointed with the M9 but that's a different story.

Spent most of Sunday setting things up, transferring data and configuring the 10. I have a few quick questions for the experts here, tried Google for answers but no luck.

First, I noticed there is no longer a "Gallery", but now a "Photos" app. It's user interface is different from Gallery which I was used to and takes some getting used to. On the Photos app, I can see different albums. One for Camera which I see the pictures I took with the phone camera listed. One called "Download". I sent myself an email with an image attachment, "Downloaded" it and that picture shows up in the Download album. OK. Next I used a browser like Firefox to search a few images. I found a few I like and used the browser's Download Image option to downloaded each. I expected to find those images in the Photos app's Download album but there are not there. Hmmm...I then went to the Download Manager and found them in the document/ folder yet the Download Manager displayed them properly as images. Now do I need to somehow move them into the Photos app's Download album? If so how? There seems to be a disconnect here? If I select any of the Download Manager's downloaded images the menu is just "Info and Help". But an image under the Photo's album I click on it I have various actions I can use such as Print, Slideshow, Use as...etc. So how does one get the downloaded images from a browser placed where I can use them for example sharing them or to set them as wallpaper?

I can set the normal wallpaper, but I have looked everywhere I can't seem to find a place where I can set the lock screen wallpaper. Is it possible?

Also the clock in the lock screen, is it changeable or customizable? I expect the same level of customization on the home screen and the lock screen, don't see it.

Finally, is there a way to change how HTC camera name their pictures? Right now it is "IMAG" plus a number. I have been using various generations of HTC phones, and my habit is once in a while I will move the pictures off the phones to my desktop or a backup drive, categorized, and delete many of the pictures on the phone.

Now I am getting image name conflicts. An image just taken as IMAG1234 is now finding a duplicate name in the folder I am copying it to, another IMAG1234 I took say three years ago. I categorize all my pictures according to their context. For example I have folders like "Baseball games", "Karate Tournaments", "Home Repairs", "Singapore summer 2014", "Europe winter 2017", so while the various trips will never have an issue since they are always new folders, yet other folders get new pictures added to and finding conflicts. Is there no way to say change the "IMAG" prefix to something else like "10IMAG" or increase the start counter to say 100001?

Thank you for any help or comments!

This is a relatively new phenomenon, and I agree it's annoying. I've seen it happen with Chrome, so it's not just Firefox -- but I'm not entirely sure which images get downloaded to the /document folder, and which ones go to the /Download folder. I believe the former is a protected system directory associated with the browser, so you can't access it directly with a file manager -- only with the browser's Downloaded menu option. In addition, it probably has a ".nomedia" file in it, which would be why those images don't show up in any gallery app. On the other hand, the /Download directory is fully user-accessible, and doesn't normally have a ".nomedia" file in it, so those images show up normally in the gallery apps. Where are you downloading the images from? I know that if you download from Google Image Search, they'll go to the /Download directory (at least, they do on my Pixel 2 XL running Chrome).

I downloaded from a Firefox image search. I will try the same with Chrome or Opera and see if their image search & save result in the right place. I went through FF's settings to see if there is a user configurable location to download images to, but couldn't find it.

Over all I think the 10's user interface is not very consistent.

One other question is with the 10 it is using a rapid charger and a type C 3.1 cable. It won't let me use older USB chargers with an old microUSB to C adapter. The software says "connect a compatible charger".

Are you all using the OEM charger exclusively? Or is there a way to use all the older chargers which I have now laying around in the office, at home, in the car, car chargers, power banks, do I have to replace them all?

The OEM chargers are junk! I have had 3 fail on me before I finally switched to quick chargers from RAVpower, purchased from Amazon. Also using micro to USB-C adapters made by Anker, also purchased from Amazon.

I mostly use two non-OEM Quickcharge (2.0 & 3.0) chargers that work better than the OEM charger, which often charges slowly. I haven't tried to use an old non-Quickcharge charger with it.
