I really like the EVO 3D, but I don't want to sign up for Sprint. Does anyone know of a similar spec'd phone heading to Verizon? I'm not interested in the Thunderbolt because I want a dual-core phone, qhd screen, 4G LTE, and the new version of sense. So basically a Verizon branded EVO 3D is what I'm looking for.

I don't see anything like that hitting soon. They just released the Droid Incredible 2, which means it's Motorola's turn to release a few devices (it just seems that way). In the past, the summer has been owned by Motorola on VZW.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm finally ready to make the jump from my iPhone (I'm really bored of iOS) and now I will have to wait for a good phone. I'm really tempted by the Thunderbolt, but I really want to wait until the new stuff comes out. The Thunderbolt seems like a good phone, but it also seems very last generation. I'm hoping they have what I'm looking for around September or so, in the worst case scenario. Hopefully they'll get something out sooner..

So you're only looking for an HTC device? I've got to be honest, I never liked HTC hardware or Sense for that matter.

I like HTC and Sense quite a bit. Sense is the only tolerable UI skin in my opinion. I'd prefer stock, but almost no android phones come with it. I really like Motorola's hardware, but I have had pretty bad experiences with them in the past so I'm a little put off by their smart phones. I also not a fan of blur, at all. To each his own I guess. :)

The ThunderBolt does have the newer Snapdragon processor so its not old and increased RAM but its not the new dual core from Qualcom but the OS isn't there yet either. I was looking at the HTC lineup and right now its just the Dinc2 and TB which is a sad showing compared to Motorola.

I just sooooo want VZ to release some decent phones... I am due for my upgrade but and have though about the CHARGE but its somewhat ugly, I don't know what to do... any suggestion? I have the Hinc1 and will NOT get the Hinc 2.... I had the thunderbolt and sent it back due to cosmetic defects.... I want a 4g phone... and I am tired of waiting, I got ants in my pants :)

Nothing wrong with the tbolt. go get one and be happy :)
Tons of dev support and good specs. Very tired of everyone dissing anything that isn't dual core or gingerbread. Its a phone people lol.

not dissing it, I just want dual core. Oh and I want the new version of sense that's going to be on the evo 3d.

I think a lot of people want what you are describing. If what Jerry said is true in the pre-IO podcast, then the bionic "may" have an unlocked bootloader when it is released. I'LL be happy with that.

So, I caved in today and used my upgrade to get another thunderbolt but This time I made sure there were no cosmetic defects with it it is perfect, My mom is due for an upgrade in 6 months and we are on a family plan so I'll just use hers when the time comes

verizon now or later (unlimited data going away?)

Like many other people, I'm due for an upgrade but not thrilled with the options on Verizon. Of course 4g would be ideal but to be honest, the thunderbolt and charge just seem a little too plastic for me. compared to the inspire 4g, incredible2, even the original evo, the G2 on Tmobile and the upcoming (come on already!) merge, the Thunderbolt really does seem like an htc phone from last year. I know that they probably had to make compromises with weight and all that, but it just seems cheap compared to others. The incredible2 feels great in the hand, solid and substantial.

The dilemma is: while I'm sure there will be other more cutting edge phones coming out for verizon at some point, but will unlimited data be gone by that point? Which means if we want to have unlimited data, what we see is what we get. Anyone else out there feeling like they have to buy something in the very near future for this reason?

I agree with everything you said except that I feel like the TB is really solid feeling... It's heavy and big, i really like the feeling of it... Unlike the charge, and the inc2 felt very plastic to me, but to each their own :-) luckily, i am not having any major issues with it too.

I'm thinking the same thing, I have an upgrade to use but want to get a good phone with it. But if unlimited data ends, I'll just pick up whatevers best.

There are quite a few of us that are hoping that HTC releases a dual-core 4G on VZW soon. Moto left a bad, bad tasted in my mouth with Blur, locked bootloaders and a terrible PR blunder. Not digging on Samsung designs or their track record of updates. HTC it is.

Yeah, I did just that...traded in my Droid X for a TB, and I ain't happy. My TB is rooted with BAMF 1.6.3 and all...but I need access to my Google Calendar regularly moreso than coolness on the UI front. And for that, gentleman, I may soon post offering an even trade. My TB for someone's Droid X. I don't have LTE nor care, but I'd just like my calendar access.

I enjoy the TB, really do. But one thing I can't do is provide my gmail address for the Google side of the phone and HTC Sense, and provide a secondary (non-Gmail) address as a Google acct and get access to my calendar like I could the DROID X.

Maybe someone out there has an unused DROID X in great shape laying around they'd be willing to trade for the TB, idk. Call me direct or send a PM if you do.
