Can someone explain to me why everyone is talking about the new iphones features as if they are new and apple invented them? Most of us have had these features for quiet some time now.

You're right, but they are new to Apple and therefore new to the world. When they finally come out with a 5.5" screen that will be the largest most colorful screen in the phone biz. Apple users are just used to be being guided and having no choices, besides color, so when they finally get something the rest of the world has had forever they get really worked up.

Cuz that's how it's always been. Apple views the world as only being iPhone users so if it's new to them then Apple was the one who brought it to them. Like you said, we've had alot of these features for years, so it's not news for the media to cover....but it is when those same features finally come to iPhone.

Ok so i'm not the only one thinking this haha it has been driving me nuts all day every saying "5.5 inch screen and you can pay with your phone how cool" and i'm saying so what had that forever lol thanks all

I had someone tell me how cool the "new NFC" was....I said my phone is 2 years old and I had NFC payments on the one BEFORE that!

Wasn't too impressed with the phone, but based solely on the presentation the iWatch it looks like the best implementation of a smartwatch to date. Looks like Apple put a lot of time and thought into it. Will have to see the hands-on demos before making a final judgment.

VidJunky is correct. They're new to the iPhone, and since most iPhone customers are very loyal a feature might as well not exist until it comes to the iPhone. When Apple and the press talk about things being new, they're talking about those things being new to iPhone users.

Oh, let Apple have their day. While I love my Android toys Apple's new phones and watch are nice indeed. If you're an Apple fan (or objective) you have to take note. It's not enough to pull me away from my Note 3 but they're nice indeed. Me? I want a Note 4 and Gear S but I can see why phone enthusiasts would be excited with today's announcements.

I did find it amusing that so many of the promo pics were of the lock screen. Looks like even Apple's marketing said "let's not show too many wall-of-icons pics here guys" 😁

Yeah, it seems only those that haven't experienced android could truly be satisfied with no choice but a wall of icons and wallpaper changes. I guess some can just overlook that and focus on apps. I'd get bored with that only because I know better.

The 6 and 6+ both have NFC built in and with the Apple Pay system Apple has already surpassed even what Google could dream of. Look at all the partners in place, banks and the online pay. Now mobile payments will really take hold sorry that Google couldn't get it mainstream but Apple does know how to do this stuff very well. Again Google may have been first to the playground with NFC but it didn't take off worth crap.

No I'm actually happy Apple is finally doing it...just expands the number of places I'll be able to use it.

New ithing

This pretty much sums it up lol

Sorry, but I had the Nexus 4 and couldn't give it away. It's not about the specs but how Apple implements them. Google just throws it out there to see if it would stick. Honestly, show me the difference between a 2k screen and a 720p. Hold them side by side. I have great vision and couldn't tell the difference. So why sacrifice battery life for no benefit? See how Apple went to the banks for Apple pay? No way the carriers can mess it up.

Matter of fact, you don't sacrifice battery life because of efficiency of the OS for the most part. Until now, Apple has had tiny screens, which takes less energy to power. We'll see how that goes this time.

Speculation at best in terms of how well it will take off due solely to Apple.

That said, given their accountability on a recent photo issue, would anyone in their right mind trust their financial transactions to be processed on the same device? Ehhh never mind, of course they will.

I love using ISIS (now SoftCard) on my Note 3 and S5...can't imagine Apple's implementation will truly be less secure and less widely accepted.

There's a lot of marketing spin, too, which is something Apple is very good at (e.g. citing "Retina display" instead of getting into a ppi war). I note the new phones have "ion strengthened glass" -- which would be Corning's Gorilla Glass then, or a copy thereof. Sodium ions on the surface of the glass are replaced with potassium ions, making it more scratch resistant. But is sure sounds good though, ion strengthened...
